Not only does Stick It Percussion supply high end John Clark playing drums in teaching studio instruments but also offers individually tailored tuition, mentoring, coaching and professional development on all percussion instruments.

John has held teaching positions at some of Australia’s most prestigious schools including; Xavier College Melbourne, S.C.E.G.G.S. Redlands Sydney, Ravenswood School, Sydney, Drumtech, London.

Teaching Philosophy

As a teacher I believe it is my duty and privilege to INSPIRE! There is so much more to making music than just the acquisition of technique. While technique is essential, musicians cannot survive on it alone. Toward this I try to:

Analyse and aid players who have acquired inefficient habits.
Open up and inspire players of all levels to a greater awareness and depth of listening.
Develop an individual instrumental voice.
Enable people to freely enjoy their music making no matter what the level, and to discover or re-discover what it is that gives them that emotional connection to their audience and to their performance.
To show that Music is a form of communication. How to communicate clearly and effectively on your instrument and to add real depth to a performance.

Teaching studio

I have a ProTools and LOGIC based studio that I use to record and teach in. It is located in the Allan Eatons Studio complex in St Kilda, Melbourne. I make all my instruments available (when not out on hire) to my students. AMEB and VCE Tuition are offered as well as individually designed study programs.
